The Story Behind the Camera
A little about how I got here.
My story with a camera didn't start with a camera. It started with a phone, years of shooting on my mobile before I ever touched a real one. When I finally asked my father for one, he told me that if photography was truly my passion, I should earn it myself. So for years back in India, I shot on a friend's camera, borrowing it for every wedding, every event, every chance I could get, learning on gear that wasn't even mine.
In 2023, I moved to Germany, and for the first time, bought a camera of my own. Brij Vachhani Photography started here in Nuremberg from exactly zero: no client list, no portfolio in this market, nobody who knew my work yet. Everything I'd learned in India came with me, but the rest I had to rebuild from scratch.
These days, most of what I shoot falls into a few categories: weddings and pre-wedding sessions, family portraits, maternity and newborn sessions, and the odd birthday party or private event. What ties it together is the same instinct every time: don't stage it, just be ready when it happens.
Six-plus years into photography now, between those early borrowed-camera days in India and building this business in Germany from the ground up. What I'm still building is my client list here, and I'd rather be upfront about that than pretend otherwise. What that means for you: you get someone who already knows how to read a room and move quickly without getting in the way, not someone fumbling through their first few sessions.
Family and newborn sessions in particular have taught me a lot about patience: a two-week-old baby doesn't care about your shot list, and neither does a toddler at a birthday party. The best images usually happen in the five minutes after everyone stops trying to arrange themselves and just exists in the same room.

Reliability isn't glamorous, but it matters on a day that only happens once.
- —A Sony Alpha 6400 paired with two lenses: a fast 50mm prime for low-light ceremonies and genuine background separation, and a Sony 18-105mm F4 G lens for everything that needs reach or flexibility.
- —Godox studio lights and a softbox for portrait and studio sessions, shaping the light rather than flattening it.
- —All editing done on a MacBook Pro, with every gallery reviewed before delivery.
